Welcome to PFTools (the "Service"), a suite of free, browser-based personal finance tools available at pftools.io, including the Finometer (real-time interest and inflation calculator), PBD (Personal Bitcoin Dominance), CTC (Couples Tax Calculator), and Quitinator (retirement timeline calculator). The Service is owned and operated by Buy to Cover, LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using the Service in any way — including visiting the website, using any tool, exporting or importing data, or using the companion Tidbyt integration — you ("you" or "User") agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must immediately cease using the Service.
Users must be of legal age to form a binding contract in their jurisdiction, or must have the verified consent of a parent or legal guardian, to use the Service. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and us. Please read them carefully.
PFTools is a suite of free, client-side personal finance tools. All tools run entirely in your browser with no server-side data processing. Current tools include:
The Finometer — a real-time compound interest calculator. Features include real-time interest accumulation, fast-forward projections, dollar debasement analysis (CPI & M2), Bitcoin satoshi conversion, What If scenario modeling, data export/import, and an optional Tidbyt companion integration.
PBD (Personal Bitcoin Dominance) — a tool for visualizing your Bitcoin holdings. Features include spot BTC and ETF input with BTC-equivalent conversion, dominance calculation against configurable supply figures, peer comparison against global holder distribution tiers, and portfolio composition analysis.
CTC (Couples Tax Calculator) — a reference tool that helps couples estimate an equitable split of a joint tax refund or tax payment based on each partner's proportional gross income contribution. CTC accepts user-entered income, federal withholding, and state withholding figures alongside the actual refund or amount owed from a completed return, then applies a proportional allocation model. CTC is provided strictly for reference and informational purposes only. See Section 03 and Section 04 for important limitations specific to this tool.
Quitinator — a retirement timeline planning tool that models hypothetical portfolio growth across Bear, Base, and Bull scenarios to estimate when a user's portfolio may reach a self-defined "Quit Number." Quitinator accepts user-entered portfolio values, income targets, contribution figures, withdrawal rates, inflation assumptions, and growth rate inputs. It also supports import of data exported from Finometer, PBD, and CTC. All outputs are illustrative projections only. See Section 03 and Section 04 for important limitations specific to this tool.
The Service is provided free of charge. We accept voluntary Monero (XMR) donations but do not charge fees, require registration, or collect payment information of any kind.
The Service is provided strictly for informational and educational purposes only. All calculations, projections, scenarios, benchmarks, and outputs are illustrative models based solely on user-provided inputs and publicly available data. They are not predictions, guarantees, or recommendations.
Specific notice regarding Quitinator: The Quitinator is a hypothetical planning tool, not a financial plan, investment recommendation, or retirement guarantee of any kind. The "Quit Number" and all scenario projections (Bear, Base, Bull) are mathematical models derived entirely from user-supplied inputs and assumed growth rates. Growth rate assumptions are speculative. Actual investment returns are not guaranteed, may be negative, and will differ — potentially materially — from any projection. The Quitinator does not account for, among other things: taxes on investment gains or retirement distributions, Social Security or pension income, healthcare and long-term care costs, sequence-of-returns risk, inflation variability beyond the user-entered rate, changes in lifestyle or spending, market volatility and drawdowns, contribution interruptions, or changes in tax law. The concept of a "safe withdrawal rate" (including the default 4% figure) is based on historical data and does not guarantee portfolio sustainability in all market conditions or for all time horizons. Quitinator output must not be relied upon as the basis for any retirement, investment, or employment decision. Always consult a qualified and licensed financial planner or retirement specialist before making any decision to leave employment or alter your financial strategy.
Specific notice regarding CTC (Couples Tax Calculator): PFTools and Buy to Cover, LLC are not tax professionals. The CTC is a simple proportional-income calculator available for reference purposes only. It does not consider or account for complex tax scenarios including but not limited to: itemized deductions, tax credits, the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), self-employment income and associated deductions, investment income, rental income, business losses, deferred compensation, pension or retirement distributions, foreign income, multi-state filing obligations, or any other factors that may materially affect the basis of the tax calculation or the equitable allocation of a refund or payment. Results produced by CTC may not reflect your actual tax liability or a legally or financially appropriate division of tax obligations between partners. Always consult with a qualified and licensed tax professional before making decisions based on any output from this tool.
We strongly encourage you to consult a qualified and licensed financial professional before making any financial decisions. We are not registered as a financial advisor, broker-dealer, investment advisor, tax preparer, enrolled agent, or any similar professional capacity in any jurisdiction.
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that the mathematical formulas underlying the Service are accurate. However, we make no representations, warranties, or guarantees that calculations are accurate, complete, error-free, consistent with financial institutions, suitable for any particular purpose, or compliant with regulations in your jurisdiction.
Results may differ from actual financial outcomes due to variable rates, fees, penalties, APR vs APY differences, rounding, or interruptions in third-party data feeds. Your use of and reliance on the Service is entirely at your own risk. Always verify important figures against official statements from your financial institution.
In particular, the CTC applies a simplified proportional gross income model to allocate a combined tax result between partners. This model does not replicate the actual mechanics of the U.S. federal or state tax systems and will produce results that differ from what a tax professional or the IRS would calculate. The CTC output is a starting-point reference, not a definitive or legally binding determination of each partner's tax responsibility.
In particular, Quitinator applies user-defined growth rates to project portfolio values over time. These projections are not based on any financial model, actuarial table, or professional analysis. They are arithmetic extrapolations of user-entered assumptions. The calculated "Quit Number" (income target ÷ withdrawal rate) is a simplified heuristic widely discussed in personal finance literature but not a guarantee of financial independence or portfolio longevity under any circumstances.
The Service integrates with several third-party data sources. We do not control these third parties and make no representations about the accuracy, availability, or reliability of their data.
External links are provided for convenience only. We do not endorse or guarantee any third-party content, products, or services.
PFTools is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We do not require registration or collect personal information. Your financial data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage and is never transmitted to our servers. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. Export files are saved directly to your device — we retain no copy.
Tool-specific storage behavior: The Finometer saves source data to localStorage; clearing your browser's local storage will permanently erase it. PBD and CTC do not persist data between sessions. The Quitinator saves your portfolio values, income target, contribution, rate assumptions, and toggle preferences to localStorage so your inputs are preserved between visits; clearing local storage will erase this data. When the BTC price feature is enabled in Finometer or PBD, a request is made to Coinbase's public API from your browser, which may expose your IP address to Coinbase subject to their privacy policy.
